I'll have to admit I didnt start out playing bass, but now that I play Ashlees now and then, it makes me wonder why people dont play the instrument as much as say guitar or drums, its fun to play.

Skewbs - I wonder the same thing all the time! Especially when most conversations with aspiring bands invariably leads to the comment, "We can't find a good bassist" Weird huh?
When I first started really getting into music, the acoustic guitar was an obvious choice cuz I wanted to replicate my favourite tunes. Also, it takes a more careful ear to extract bass lines from songs. It didn't take long til I switched to bass almost primarily. I always thought the bassists were the coolest guys, so that was it for me!
For whatever reason, the average person on the street could likely name 10 or 20 famous guitarists, but would struggle with doing the same for bassists. That popularity must trickle down to kids who wanna rock...
